My Story

When I first began my journey toward health and wellness, it was in an effort to heal my gut of chronic digestive issues which were wreaking havoc on my entire body. I began monitoring what I ate, kept a food journal, rid my diet of everything unhealthy, and was very strict on myself. And although I became physically much healthier because for the first time in my life I was taking care of myself, a lot of other areas in my life began to suffer. My commitment to my health grew into unhealthy obsessive behavior and orthorexic tendencies such as monitoring every calorie, rejecting invites to restaurants, and deeming certain foods as absolutely off-limits no matter what. I found myself in a place of complete isolation, social distraction, body self-consciousness, and unhappiness.

That’s when I realized something that changed my life — my health was made up of so much more than what I consumed. Sure, my gut health was feeling better than it had in a long time, but that issue was replaced with a hugely negative impact on my emotional and mental health. Being so restrictive had made me betray my body, my hunger cues, my desires, my friends, my family, and so much more. What’s healthy about that?

So I made a shift. I became conscious and aware of how I felt around food and how foods made me feel. Most of all, I learned that food is not meant for isolation. Food is a lovely gift that is meant to be enjoyed, without guilt, fully present in the moment with your people.

If you want to:

  • ditch your miserable chronic diet cycle

  • regain a sense of control over your food cravings

  • learn sustainable ways to integrate healthy eating patterns into your life

  • stop spending so much time calculating calories

  • enjoy food again

Now is the time! I have been there and experienced it all, trust me. I’ve used my experience to build resources for you so that you can find food freedom and rediscover your relationship with food in a whole new way. Click below to explore the options I offer and see which one works best for you.

What is Sobremesa?

An untranslatable Spanish word (pronounced so-bray-may-sah) that defines the time spent around the table after a meal, talking to the people you shared it with; time to digest and savor both food and friendship; a time of slowness and connectivity, for intimate conversation, indulgence, and living life in community with others. It is a mindset, a lifestyle, an understanding that the best moments in life happen organically but with intention, and that good, nourishing food connects us all.

I am on a mission to heal people’s relationship with food so that they can experience the true connection that can happen around it when you can be fully present around food. Food is there to serve you, to nourish you, to keep you satisfied and healthy. It is not there to stress you out, to measure, count, and especially not to make you skip dinner plans with your favorite people. I believe that healthy living is much more than dieting. In fact, I don’t believe in dieting at all. Because it is only when you can finally release yourself from always being halfway “on a diet” that you can allow for Sobremesa to take place, that you can focus on the love and connection that your food is trying to bring you.
